Our story is local. Our ambition is long-term.

Child of Hope grew from direct community concern into an organised effort to help vulnerable children move from crisis toward stability and opportunity.

Our beginning

Compassion became a commitment

Child of Hope began with a simple conviction: a child's future should not be determined by the circumstances into which they were born. What started as personal support to children and families has developed into a community-led foundation focused on practical help, responsible follow-up and long-term opportunity.

We do not try to replace families or communities. We work with them—helping address barriers that keep children out of school, expose them to harm, or prevent families from accessing basic support.

Child of Hope community engagement

Mission

To restore hope and expand opportunity for vulnerable children by strengthening access to education, wellbeing, protection and supportive family environments.

Vision

A Uganda where vulnerable children can grow safely, learn consistently and develop the confidence and opportunity to shape their own futures.

How we work

Locally led, child-centred and evidence-aware: we assess needs, agree practical support, document delivery and follow up with families and relevant service providers.

Values

What guides our decisions

Dignity

We present children as people with rights, dignity and potential—not as fundraising objects.

Integrity

We communicate what we know, record what we receive and correct what needs correction.

Local responsibility

Families and community actors are part of the solution, not spectators.

Long-term thinking

Immediate support should strengthen a child's path forward, not create dependency.

Organisation

Leadership and accountability

Day-to-day work is led by the foundation team, while governance and oversight are treated as distinct responsibilities. This separation supports financial review, safeguarding oversight and organisational accountability.

As a Ugandan CBO, our governance and reporting framework is designed around the requirements applicable to community-based organisations, including work planning, governing-body records and annual reporting.
